Surgery

Isaac's surgery went well and I am so impressed at what a trooper he is. Yesterday morning as he was getting ready to go to the hospital with John, he looked at me and said "Mama, this isn't going to be fun, is it?"

"No, Isaac, it won't be that fun, but what will be wonderful is that once your throat has a different shape, you will be able to make many new sounds. You have so many great things to say that Dad and I want everyone to be able to understand you."

He then gives me a big hug and says "Thank you Mama." For those of you wondering about adopting a child who is "older" or has baggage, I must say there are amazing moments of gratitude that come into play that most parents don't get.

Everything went well with the surgery and I was able to make it to the hospital by the time he started waking up. He first asked if he could play with an iphone. (I guess the Dr. let him play with his this morning.) Then he asked to watch TV. He asked me to stop on the Cake Boss show which I thought was pretty funny since he loves food more than almost anything else.

He was able to eat a couple of yogurts last night.

One of the sweeter moments was when Emerson called and was all upset because he was worried about his brother. He needed to talk to Isaac. When Isaac heard Emerson crying he said "I am OK Emerson, don't cry, I am OK, I love you."

People ask us all the time if they are twins, the next question is "are they real brothers?" or "how do they get along?" I always say yes they are brothers and they get along like brothers. It was so sweet last night to see a beautiful side to their connection.
